Boilerhouse to re-launch ADASS Care Apps Showcase & Conference as online platform and year round care apps programme

New programme format combines an online showcase with a year round programme of activities, a live event in Birmingham 7 March 2017 and a suite of Care Apps Awards.

Following the success of the first ADASS Care Apps Showcase and conference in October 2015, a new programme combining an online showcase, a Conference (Birmingham March 7th 2017) and a year round programme of online activities has been launched by ADASS and Boilerhouse Events in partnership.

Rapidly increasing demand and severely reduced budgets are presenting huge challenges to providers, funders and users of social and personal care.

Digital technologies, including ‘apps’, offer genuine prospects of more-for-less, including better, less costly management of long-term conditions and the opportunity for more people to stay independent for longer.

Meanwhile apps for professionals are already enabling more flexible, efficient and safe working practices.

The ADASS care apps showcase and conference will provide a key focal point in a wider programme and platform, Public Service Digital eXchange, developed by Boilerhouse, focusing on digital innovation by and/or for the public sector and launching in September 2016 said Boilerhouse MD, Vicky Sargent.

App developers will be invited to upload details of their app(s) to the care apps section of the PSD eXchange platform. These will be free-to-view on the platform.

A shortlist of care apps selected by ADASS from those uploaded to Public Service Digital eXchange will be presented at the ADASS Care Apps Conference 7 March 2017 in Birmingham.

“The ADASS Care Apps year round online showcase pivoting as it does around the March 7th conference offers the care apps community a custom built, year round information exchange, and programme of development activity and communications designed and managed by a team of dedicated professionals” said Ather Abbas, Director of Programmes at Boilerhouse

There will be some synergies between the ADASS programme and the Better Connected programme we launched with SOCITM in May this year” added Abbas “Health and care provision at a local level is all about digital delivery and seizing the digital opportunity is exactly what our partners SOCITM and LCIOC are focussing on”.

In addition Boilerhouse will launch The Care Apps Awards in November 2016.

“I have had a number of background conversations with our major sponsors and partners during the planning for this launch” said Ben Webber, Sales Director at Boilerhouse, “and there is a great deal of enthusiasm about the opportunities presented by the awards, the programme and in particular about being able to merge marketing and communications activities across both the Better Connected Programme and what we think of as the Connected Care Programme.”
