James Harris is the Policy and Networks Manager at Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
@RTPIPlannersThe RTPI and Idox "innovations in digital planning" workshop at CLGLive 2017 includes presentations from GLA and Greater Manchester Combined Authority who are using big data to map infrastructure networks and shape the growth of their city-regions.
For the best part of a year the RTPI has supported the Future Cities Catapult (FCC) in exploring how new technology and big data is changing the way we plan.
As a government-backed centre for the advancement of smart cities, the FCC has been working to identify state-of-art products and services with the potential to disrupt the world of planning. Together, we’ve been running workshops where our members can meet with tech companies and government officials to discuss key challenges facing the system, and sketch out new ways to make planning more transparent, democratic and effective. Many of these solutions have the potential to ease the administrative burden on planners, freeing up valuable time to work across local government on more complex issues.
We have now partnered with Idox to run an exciting new workshop at Connected Local Government Live 2017 showcasing the latest innovations in digital planning and exploring what they mean for local government.
The workshop will include presentations from:
We look forward to seeing you at Connected Local Government Live 2017 and exploring the future of planning.
